But this mother, she is not a persuasive speaker, she is definitely not a learned scholar, and she is not known to have shown any miracles. Yet she commands a very large international following. I asked this friend of mine who is her devotee how it is that such an ordinary woman can attract so many followers, among them being many well educated professionals. This is what he told me: You think she is not performing miracles because she does not create things from air in front of people. She is performing miracles of a different kind every day.
I asked this friend of mine who is her devotee how it is that such an ordinary woman can attract so many followers, among them being many well educated professionals.

This is what he told me: You think she is not performing miracles because she does not create things from air in front of people. She is performing miracles of a different kind every day. These are all personal miracles.People come to her for solutions to their problems, and after they go back with her blessings they see changes in their lives, their problems miraculously resolve themselves. To these people, the mitigation of their problems for which they have sought her blessings is nothing short of a miracle, and so they continue to be her devotees.

She is performing miracles, but these are private miracles.

We have all heard of miracles in connection with the lives of the founders and prophets of every religion. Invariably, these miracles are reported to have taken place hundreds of years ago. We do not hear of such miracles today. Why is it that we do not hear of miracles today? Is it because we do not have “masters” who are able to command the “supernatural”? Is it because we now tend to diabelieve miracles and attribute them to “sleight of hand”? Or is it that through a lack of faith we do not allow opportunities for miracles to take place? Consider the following situation for a miracle to happen: You are travelling on a mountain road, and meet with an accident that throws you out of your vehicle. Fortunately, you are able to hang on to the weak limb of a tree overhanging a cliff, just over a drop of hundreds of feet straight down. You cannot make your way over the tree branch because it is not strong enough to carry your weight, and you are likely to break th branch and drop down if you try to do so. You pray:” dear God, please help me! Rescue [...]

Consider the following situation for a miracle to happen:

You are travelling on a mountain road, and meet with an accident that throws you out of your vehicle.
Rescue me from here, let me live! (and if you are like most people, you will also promise to make an offering at a place of worship, or donate to charity if God does help you.
And then you hear a voice say,” Okay, I am saving you. Just take your hold off the branch and drop down, and I’ll bring you safely down to earth, safely in my arms.Trust me.”
So how do you react to this word for God?
Again, if you are like most people, you will look up to heaven and ask God, “Is there no other way?”

And God has lost another opportunity to do a miracle!

Do you agree with me that we do not have miracles because we do not have the kind of strong faith that is necessary to make miracles happen? Do you also think that the absence of miracles points to a crisis of faith in today’s people?
